you don’t have to do it alone!
In 2015, we piloted Lights Film Space, an online hub designed to help independent filmmakers build their offline creative communities. The initiative was met with enthusiasm, and early adopters helped us identify ways in which we could grow our social network so as to serve the indie film community even better.
Most immediately, their feedback inspired us to focus our team’s efforts on building a new learning experience for our Lights Film School students. Lights Film School is our flagship online film school where students learn how to make professional narrative and documentary films using the equipment they already have, wherever they live, with guidance, community, and resources at a fraction of the cost of traditional film school. It’s our way of making a comprehensive film education accessible to everyone, everywhere.
This new learning experience has been developed to encourage community, connection, and collaboration – the guiding vision of Lights Film Space. Take a look:
In other words, the insights we gained from piloting Lights Film Space (along with feedback from students, alumni, and industry professionals since Lights Film School’s launch in 2007) informed the ground-up rebuild of our online film school. Now, it’s not just about the coursework – it’s about the community.
If you’re looking to connect with self-motivated creative professionals around the world (including in your area) and learn the fundamentals of filmmaking, then we invite you to join Lights Film School! If you’re more interested in just a social network without the educational component, then we invite you to contact us so that we can add you to our mailing list – we’ll keep you abreast of our evolution here at Lights. Onward and upward!
Thanks for your interest and with love,
The Lfs team
